Momentum Bike Clubs

The Cornerstone of Our Organization

Our Bike Clubs are the foundation of the organization. Since the conception of Momentum, the idea of using cycling as a vessel for students to express themselves and learn life skills was always at the forefront of our mission. Important added benefits include the exercise the participants get as well as the opportunity for the students to experience other areas outside of their normal walks of life. Many of the kids have never seen the beautiful paths we ride on and truly embrace the beauty right here in their communities.

School Bike Clubs

Momentum’s School Clubs are an opportunity for students from the same school to ride together. The students love attending the school clubs because it’s a great chance for them to gather with like-minded friends and have a great time while cycling.

Groups of 7-12 students team up with 4-5 mentors to ride weekly. Bikes, water bottles, helmets, and healthy snacks are provided at no cost.  Our experienced and kind mentors guide the students every step of the way. Whether they’re providing advice, joining in on the fun, or simply lending an open ear, the impact our mentors have in our bike clubs can last a lifetime.

Community Bike Clubs

Momentum’s Community Club offers a chance for students from different schools to bike together. If a student is interested in joining Momentum, but we don’t have a club in their school, our Community Club is the place for them.

Students will be transported after school to the Nicholtown Community Center for the rides, and then back to their school afterwards.  Just like with our school clubs, our mentors will be there for the students guiding them during bike rides and other activities.

Preparing For Your Bike Ride

When a student arrives at one of our Bike Clubs, it’s essential that they:

Have completed the application and have their parent or guardian’s consent.

Wear athletic apparel

Once students become a member, they will be provided with Momentum Bike Clubs shirts, shorts, and sweatpants, but they should always wear appropriate footwear,

Are mentally and physically prepared to ride on a bike for several miles at a time.

Our mentors are very aware of the capabilities and endurance of the students before going on an adventure. We often stop for a water break and talk about life and other fun topics.
